Compartment No. 6,  by Finnish filmmaker Juho Kuosmanen, made its debut at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in 2021 where it took home the jury’s Grand Prix

It’s a road movie which takes place in early post-Soviet years and is shown with incredible authenticity. A young Finnish woman, an archaeology student, leaves behind her love life in bohemian Moscow and gets on a train to the arctic port of Murmansk in search of petroglyphs, prehistoric rock engravings. Forced to share the long ride in a tiny sleeping compartment with a companion who she has nothing in common with, she starts to rediscover herself. What begins as a simple trip becomes a metaphorical expedition of self-discovery for both main characters.

Join us on this cinematic journey and discover the power of storytelling through the lens of Russian filmmakers.

The film is available to rent on Amazon from £2.49, or on Soviet Movies Online which has a range of membership options.
